Summer Courses

• Register for summer classes through your counselor at the ASD neighborhood, charter or alternative school you attend. 
• Registrations for current high school students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

• High School students may choose to take up to TWO courses for grade improvement or original attempt.  In addition to one or two academic classes, students may also take Work Experience.  Rising 9th graders see your options on the menu to the left.

• AKCV no longer offers OS credit recovery classes.   All classes are OL and can be taken for grade improvement or original credit. 

• For enrollment, contact your school counselor. After 5/21/26 - please email: akchoice@asdk12.org .  

• If registering after 5/21 by email include

  • name and date of birth of the student

  • valid student email.  asd.net is no valid 

  • the name of the class requested including which semester, example: US History S2

• Enrollment will close 5/29/26 with no exceptions. 

NO LOGIN EMAIL WILL BE SENT.   Courses will be found on your Canvas Homepage.

Take time to review the  Online Orientation  which contains useful information on AKChoice Virtual policies and expectations as well as navigation tips for virtual classes.  It will also provide the answers to the Orientation quiz, which is mandatory in most of our classes. During this time, students are expected to complete an entire semester's worth of work for each course, and all courses contain pacing guides that students are expected to follow to keep on track to complete the course by the end of the summer term.

• Most core classes are NCAA approved. 
• Courses follow a semester-long pacing guide.  Work submitted one-week late is subject to a 10% per week point deduction with an additional 10% penalty each week until the assignment is worth zero points. 
• All unit and final exams require the use of the Respondus Lockdown Browser
• All assignments must be completed in Google Docs and the link shared with your teacher 

• Log in daily to your online class. 
• Use Chrome as Internet browser
• Maintain an accurate, unique student email address in Q
• Communicate weekly with class instructor(s)
• Devote daily time to virtual classwork & avoid procrastination.

• Please contact your teacher and request Zoom meetings if you need additional help
• Follow AI guidelines closely
